Provides psychological care to out-patients and in-patients who have diagnosed mental illness or psychological problems. Serves in the diagnosis and therapy of such patients and engages in preventive care of venerable patients. Supports staff development and training.
Undertakes psychometric testing for in-patients and out-patients as required and produces reports and opinion in line with department requirements and timeframes. Accepts and processes referrals from physicians as required.
Undertakes interventional work for in-patients and out-patients as required and produces reports and opinion in line with department requirements and timeframes.
Will actively participate in the development of junior staff which will include the development and delivery of: departmental orientation, competency, preceptoring, coaching and tutoring as well as participating in the development of training programs.
Participates in the development and maintenance of policies, which ensures delivery of, care in accordance with national or international standards and SSH objectives.
Participates, liaises with and operates with required Clinical Function Groups (CFG) and other relevant clinical and managerial teams.
Responds to complaints in accordance with SSH requirements and will undertake preventative risk management as needed.
Supports the development of the service in collaboration with the section head of Psychiatry, Division Director CSS and supervisor.
Deputizes for the Supervisor as required.
Keeps current with different fields related to his/her domain of work.
Performs other tasks and duties within the scope of knowledge, skills and experience required for the job as assigned by an immediate superior.
